Case Studies - July 2011

There seems to be a strong sentiment in the market to begin investing in capital projects again and we are working hard to be part of that with our customers.  

New Zealand

Both workshops have completed manufacturing silos and powder bins for dairy projects around the country.  Coming up is an opportunity for us to be involved with a new dairy factory planned for Canterbury which will be excellent for the team to work on. 

New Plymouth have recently completed a complex diverter system over the last 6 months specifically designed for a customer.  It is approximately 2 m in diameter and rotates around an axis to divert food products to different downstream processes.  This system was successfully commissioned in the middle of July, 2011.  They are currently busy building cheese packaging machinery and have been building a variety of process vessels due for completion over August and September.

In Christchurch has been busy on a dairy project for a new expansion in Canterbury and are about to begin building 20 vessels for another new Canterbury dairy installation, with all vessels built to our exacting standards and design.  Current challenges are from natural causes with large snowfalls adding to the post earthquake complications in the region.

Australia

We have finished a lot of bulk material handling equipment for a variety of customers over the last couple of months.  We have successfully commissioned a bulk explosives mixing plant which used a variety of bulk bag emptying and filling processes that have had to be carefully designed to prevent any cross contamination in parts and correct mixing in other parts.  

We have also built and commissioned several bulk bag filling systems for the mining industry in North Queensland for a variety of customers.  A carton conveyor for a meat processor is in the early stages of construction, including a steep angle carton elevator and a carton carousel.

There has been a large sugar tank built over the last month which was delivered on time and on budget, to the satisfaction of the customer.  It was built to Mercer's high standard and the customer was very happy.
